Am thinking about buying a rangefinder. Have a question about them. What does anyone think about ARC
mode on the rangefinder. Do you think it is really needed. The question I have is if I am standing next to a tree and take a measurement from the tree to a stump lets say, And then climb up a tree stand on the same tree and take a measurement of the same stump wont it give me the correct measurement without ARC???

No, it will give you the sloped reading. If you know how to quickly do the equation in your head, you dont need to spend the extra money. use a haul line that is a set lenght to help judge your hieght in a tree. That way any hang-on or climber that you use will be set up to the same hieght. Once you figure out the equation, youll know how far a 20 yard reading really is. I have a Nikon Prostaff. Works extremely well. I hunt my own property, so I only use the rangefinder when hanging a new set. I range landmarks(trees, stumps) anything that will remain for awhile, out to 40 yards. That way I know and dont need to carry the rangefinder. If Im using my climber on public or a buddies land. I always bring it. Batteries last for freakin ever too..
