Yeah... the cheap one.  But heck, it works for state land, no?

I know you guys are kidding about shooting this little one, but you know someone will have a go at him and that's just wrong .

Only exception would be if it was someone's very first buck, but still they too should pass on that.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with you however I would like to hear you explain why it's wrong?

It's just the way I use to hunt and still do/would. To me...that picture (granted hard to tell by flash) tells me he's just going through his first full season.

Granted if he is old, it's just hurting the future, but I know someone would shut it. So, I'd save the tag for something bigger.

Just me two cent's worth.

To some young hunter, or an experienced one in the right circumstance (new scoped muzz - 180 yd. shot), that little spike could provide quite a hunt/thrill and would deffinately provide some tasty venison.    Conversly, for other hunters, there is a satisfaction to passing up deer like that.  I guess it is all about the hunters mission, perspective, and need to play the end game in the moment.  On the outside chance....the little guy may combine luck with some innate wiles and grow to be one of the great ones....gracing Drags trail cam in four years as the unkillable - nocturnal monster of zone 8.  You never know.  He may disperse to a safe area in early fall.  Every monster buck was a little knucklehead once.....

Do the herd a favor and shoot the last one. Some youngster will get a thrill and probably miss the spike
