Forests are very poor habitat for deer because there is very little growth down where the deer need it. A quick and easy way to create food and cover for deer is to bend saplings down to the ground and place a log or rock on them to keep them down. If you do this to several trees in the same location it will allow sunlight to reach the forest floor which will generate a lot of additional growth.
You can do this by your treestands to make "natural food plots" to pull the deer in. I did a seminar on this topic for F&W at the Garden State Deer Classic 2 years ago. |
