NJ Hunter / New Jersey Politics & Guns / NJ Firearms ID Card / Need help! NJ Fireamrs ID
Posted:  03 Jul 2007 10:02 PM
Im turning 18 in august my question is can I get my fireamrs ID card? Im not getting my license until november but it will only be my provisional license. Will I still be able to get my ID card, even though I won't get my provisional license until november or my unrestricted license until next novmber?

Of course.  Purchasing a firearm has nothing to do with driving a car.  You will need some sort of state issued ID for a purchase, though.

Thanks! I was asking because I thought you needed your license when you registered for a NJ Firearms ID card.

Go to the MVC and get a non-driver ID, then apply for the FID card. Good luck

I'm looking at the remington 11-87 sportsman, but a freind of mine has an 11-87 he says its a good gun but it jams sometimes. I don't know if its something he did or not but im still looking into buying this gun. The other problem is I have NO $$$!!! I'm looking for a job but can't find one. If anyone has this gun can you tell me if you have any problems with it.

I have one, never had a jam problem, the only problem I had was the rubber "O" ring broke, cost a few cents to get it from a plumbing supply store. I bet your friends 11-87 is either dirty, or the loads he is using

The newer 11-87 sportsman series guns seem to have  problems with jams.  The agency I work for bought 4 of them and only 1 functions properly, 1 jams on occasion and the other 2 are jam-o-matics.  They are essentially a single shot because they jam every shot unless you are shooting heavy 3" mags than they cycle a round once in a while.  One was sent back to Remington and they stated it needed to break in so shoot it some more.  We have hundreds of rounds through it and it still jams every shot.

I got mine back when it was considered the 11-87 SPS, it cost me if I remember $600 back in 2002
