Shot both of these loads this weekend at 50 yards to check out the bore siteing on the new scope. Lightfields were almost touching each other in a 3 shot group

Need to shoot more and get out to 100 yards...ran out of time this weekend.

Does it matter if I'm shooting 2-3/4" slugs or 3" slugs out of the H&R 20ga? I'm ready to start trying out some slugs to see what shoots best out of my gun, but some slugs (ie. Winchester Supreme Partition Gold Slugs) are sold in both 2-3/4" and 3" lengths and others are sold only in 2-3/4" or 3" lengths.

Every firearm is different..Gotta go spend some cash and range time.

My 20g H&R likes the Barnes Expanders and the Remington Core Loks.

Sighted in for 100yards. Have shot both rounds out to 200(range). Right now the Core Loks are my pick.

Lightfields are damm accurate out to 100 yards.  But past 100 yards they really drop because of the attached wad.

you are correct, Chris. But they are devastating at 100 and under. Im shooting a 12ga and the drop after 150 is even more severe than the 20.

After several hours and hundreds of dollars in ammunition I am having the best luck with the Hornady SST’s out of my 12 Gauge Ultra Slug Hunter.  The lightfields, and buckhammers are ok.  I could hunt with them, but the SST’s are grouping better.  I can’t seem to get the Barnes Expanders to group much at all.  I’m surprised because several people that I know have had really nice groups with the expanders out of the same set up I am shooting.  The Barnes expander tipped slugs were the worst of all.  I also shot the federal fusions which weren’t very good either.

Try the Hastings slugs. I have a post on here somewhere from last year with pics. Three shots in the same hole at 100 yards
