went out scouting today to find a good spot for squirrel. i found alot of new spots! ill try to get out there and rack up some points for team 1! i also went to stokes to reserve a campsite but everything was booked! i reserved a site at swartswood lake instead! i also went to rockport pheasant farm in hackettstown. i saw alot of pretty birds. i have noticed that all the birds had no tail feathers whatsoever. i guess that they will grow in before the season starts. i saw alot of sichuan pheasants, which are pheasants without any white rings around their necks. another thing i noticed is that all the birds were skinny and the hens were really dark. they were like a dark brown! here are some pictures! bear mount at stokes state forest office. some pics of pheasants.

Those birds in the pens by the parking lot never have tail feathers. Between the shale mud by the drinkers & pickin at each other. All the stocking birds are across the rail road tracks.

Last time I checked you can't eat tail feathers. Besides, they fly just fine without tail feathers. They put a lot of the dark hens out last year too. I have one that should be back from the taxidermist any time now that I shot in Dec. I have shot quite a few of the dark hens over the years. Last year I shot one that was black. I didn't think of mounting it. I also shot my first sichuan last year. I have wanted one for a while. Unfortunately was was hunting with another guy and his dog. Dog retreived it back to him (as he should) and he rung the birds neck. Took all the feathers off where the ring should have been. That bird I did want mounted until he rung the neck. Oh well. As for the no tail feathers. hes not old but hes like 40 or 50. heused to have dog named kirby but it died. he is at the field by me which is the feild by the dog training area. he hunts by himself all the time and hes been there forever. he drives a red pickup truck. hes a great guy.
