NJ Hunter / New Jersey Hunting / How To / DIY Penn SS Reel Repair (7500 SS)
Posted:  14 Jun 2007 9:35 AM
My 7500 SS fouled up early this year.

The anti-reverse would only engage with the clicker "on".

It still worked, but reeling with the clicker on is annoying.

I took it apart last week - pretty simple mechanism, and everything is easy to remove and replace.

Turns out the Upper Eccentric (6A on the schematic) was cracked.
(The top piece, which is not seperate, cracked)

Now to find parts?

Local B&T's didn't have the part, and most suggested sending it out.

I found Scott's B&T has the parts and the schematics for all Penn Reels.

Made the parts purchase and received them within 3 days.

Took me a couple hours last night, but it works.

i have mine for more than 15 yrs and still works great also have a 650 ss had to replace a gear and roller on that it took a beating on a nite blue trip
on a party boat 15-20 lber all nite caught like 40 fish towards the end i heard the gear grinding took it to harlee rod in jersey city and its been great since unforfunatly they stoped doing their own repairs and send them out now they once built their own rods and stoped that aswell
