North Central Jersey Friends of NRA
Dear Friend, 2007 has turned out to be a very challenging year for the citizens of NJ. The current crop of politicians in NJ are either blatantly naive or spectacularly deceitful, either condition making them a danger to every man, woman and child in this state. They keep substituting gun control for criminal control. They keep trying to fool the public into believing they are proposing laws that will make everyone's lives safer by taking the guns away from the terrorists, gangs and criminals. Granted, that might work if they could indeed take the guns away from the bad guys, but anyone who tells you that they can accomplish that is either too stupid to be your representative or is an outright liar. Instead, all they really do is make us honest citizens the scapegoat for criminals. Virtually every gun control scheme ever conceived has resulted in disarming the honest and rendering them defenseless against the dishonest. Its as if the politicians are in league with the criminals, gangs and terrorists. Its long past time that the public rejected these pro-crime tactics of disarming the honest to make them easy victims for the dishonest. But, what can YOU do about this absurd situation? Interesting you should ask because the solution to this situation really is in your grasp. What you need to do is convince your fellow residents in NJ to choose better politicians. Oh, sure, and just how do you do that? Its easy, and practically effortless, and a whole lot of fun too! All you have to do is come to our 8th annual Friends of NRA banquet and auction at the Grand Chalet this week. Crazy as that may sound, it really is true. The only way we will get better politicians is if the public votes for better politicians. The only way they will vote for better politicians is if they see past the illusion of gun control as crime control and that takes education. The Friends of NRA dinners are the funding vehicle for just such education. The money we raise from these dinners goes to fund the outreach events held at gun clubs all over the state; like Youth Day and Woman's Day and NRA Day at the range. It funds the Eddy Eagle gun safety program for kids. It supports all of the educational outreach we do every year to teach the public that guns in the hands of honest citizens are a deterrent to crime and not the source of crime. Once a voter has been to one of our outreach events they start to question the motives of their representatives when they call for gun control instead of facing the hard work of real crime control. Its a real eye opener for the public and that realization is the only way we will get the public to truly consider their voting choices. Ultimately, the fight for public safety, specifically the individual citizens’ right to be equipped to defend themselves against crime will be won or lost at the ballot box. So, I offer you a fun evening filled with good food and the bright company of our other friends and defenders of our personal rights as a way for you to help with this important duty. (Was that a good segue or what?) Please come and join us and experience the excitement of the possibility of winning one of our games of chance, or having your ticket drawn from a raffle bucket. The silent auction often appears to be a game of strategy between competing bidders for a prized item and the live auction is always an exciting thing to watch and anyone can join in with a bid at anytime. You won’t get that kind of excitement from sitting at home and watching reality TV. The Banquet is being held on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at the Grand Chalet, 1377 Route 23 South, Wayne, just about a mile south of where the Wayne Manor used to be. The banquet tickets are $38 per person. You might also consider the Benefactor level ticket for $125 that provides you with not only the dinner, but $120 worth of raffle tickets and a listing in the program. The Sponsor level ticket is the real bargain of the evening as the $250 cost rewards you with one of “General George Washington” sculptures, a Sponsor hat, lapel pin, Sponsor decal, $200 worth of raffle tickets, and a program listing in addition to your dinner. You may order your tickets by phone at 973-903-6236 or via email to stephenpotts@earthlink.net Please hurry, time is running out! Thank-you, Never trust a politician who will not trust you. __________________ Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, Diet Coke in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!" - Maxine
