lay a slab of concrete and use kennels by optionsplus.com   they also put their kennels on ebay so u can get a good deal on them. then for the dog house go to securepets.com and click on insulated dog house. they have a real nice insulated dog house with an electric dog pad that i have for my set up. i just need to build a cover for the kennel.

If you are getting a beagle I would suggest a roof cover of some sort. They are known to be good climbers.

I bought a 6x10 kennel from Lowes for $200.00.  I added 3 rubber horse mats (available from any equine supply store) and put on a tarp for the roof, supported by a steel crossmember.  I then cut a hole in the fence and attached a dogloo by wiring it in with bailing wire.  This way my dog has the entire 6x10 area to run around, and is covered  from the elements.  I also added an electric heater for the dogloo.   Total spent was about $850.00.  Best money I ever spent.  She has a dry, warm, and comfortable place to spend her time in now, and she likes it so much I often find her in there when the door to the kennel is open and free to roam the yard.

I have a similiar setup as GenX. optionsplus.com makes a nice product, I bought there too. You can get a good deal on feight if shipped to a business address.

Resist the temptation of gravel and go with concrete. Easy to clean and keep sanitary.

Outside dog is fine but truth be told, working dog can live inside if you want it to.

The wire kennels described are excellant.   10X12 is  alot of room for one dog.      The original  wire kennels are Prefert, you can pick them up at one of the dealers in NJ.

Last ones I picked up for a friend were at Ricks saddle in Emglishtown. A top is an asbolute necessity.  They have tops of the same wire/frame.  For rain/snow, I use 1" pvc attached to the frame with "T" clamps-  bowed-- then lay a tarp over.
I saw an oldtimer who kept his beagles on wire floored kennels about three feet off the ground.  He  swore by it-  easy rake clean-up, kept the dogs off the ground away from bugs and out of their own mess/urine.
His set-up was in the woods, without any water to hose down.
You might search the rabbit hunting boards for suggestions.
I like small mesh chain link - avoids dogs bitting IMO, darker colors soften the visual appearance - less prison like.   Good for hanging deer also  lol
Good luck
