I live about a 4 minutes drive from there. NO PUBLIC BOWHUNTING WILL BE ALLOWED IN RIFLE CAMP OR GARRET MOUNTAIN.  I have contacted the Passaic County Parks department about this.  The sheriff's dept is putting together a propsal to the county to "Safely Manage the heard with sharp shooters"  go figure.  I'm not surprised.  I'd do it myself with a bow for free though, and I bet nobody would know I was there.  Man that place would be ideal to hunt.  And yes the middle aged guys in the parking lot are homos and it's disgusting.  I wish the sheriff's department would manage that heard!

If they have a "sharp shooting' hunt by the sheriff dept I will bet all my money that it will be sheriff officers doing the hunting.Just legalizing what they have been doing all along.Hey BHC,remember the first time jrhunt tried to flag you down in the park

Yes, he was driving a little white girly car, I had just gotten my 2005 Toyota Tacoma and my friend Sammy (brownstones on here) was driving it, and here we see this guy waving to us. I told Sammy just keep going he's a FAG, and if he follows us I will kick his ass....Sorry Jrhunt, didn't know it was you at that time

This whole scene sounds like the one in the Sopranos when the two guys making a collection at the gay bar ran into Vito decked out in leather chaps & a leather hat.

Same stage here, we just have to figure out who's straight and who's not...

Well it was a good time.  This was only the 2nd time I was there.  1st time I was fishing.  I brought the pup and we walked a little and ran a little.  Nice place to run.  However, I heard shooting.  Is their a police range at the base between Rt. 19 and the mountain?

Yes, the Passiac County Sheriff's range is there

I think there is some kind of firefighter training there also. There is also a nice cliff for rappeling near that range.

I just got back from a run with the pup at Garret Mountain.  I saw my first deer up there today.  A small group of 5 near the pond.  No antler growth.  Must have been does.

I went again today with my wife and pup.  Good run and then we took a cool down around the pond.  Well 2 knuckleheads got out of a care and shot a paintball gun at a goose.  Then they walked into the woods and kept shooting.  We got up above them and I looked down towards them.  They have the friggin barrel pointed at us.  Just so happened that the Passaic County Sheriff Department was training in the parking lot at Garret Mountain.   They took off like a shot when I told them.  Unfortunately it lloked like they were gone when they got down there.

Saw 12 deer tonight up there, 2 of them bucks, and 1 fawn

Just went up there with brownstones and saw Fletch. We saw a nice 6 pointer, some does and fawns, saw 8 turkeys all males, there where 2 groups of 4, and they started fighting each other

Joe

The kids and I followed behind you and Sam,   A small 8 popped out by the middle lot, as you two left,  A lot of fawns running around,  Almost hit one going out,  it nearly ran into the van.   The boys were fishing the pond across the street, I can't drive down Rifle camp without going through the park,  Good to see you two,   The kids have a fishing contest going on, 2 teams of two.  Tomorrow they fish the river for smallies.
