Can I get a handy cap? I want to hunt all them little 1's with my long bow too.

I might be in if I can figure out what small game animals Im allowed to take with my bow too.

I'll probably use the recurve for this!

Mystic, if I do join this, maybe you and I can go out small gaming with the trad gear one day. Everyone will think we are crazy, it will be great!

I know we can hunt woodchucks with a bow, how about coons? Coyotes and foxes can be taken with a bow too....are they considered small game? I could probably get a pheasant too, but I might get someones dog in the process....Even with flu-flu arrows, that thing has to come down somewhere if you miss.

Better stick to the stuff that runs around on the ground I think.

I MIGHT be in.....I have to figure out if I would be a help or hinderance to a team.

MATTY, YOU CAN SHOOT WOODCHUCK BUT IDK ABOUT COON...WE ARE NOT COUNTING FOXES OR COYOTES BECUASE THERE SEASON DOESNT INTERVENE WITH ANY OTHER SMALL GAME ANIMAL'S SEASONS...IF YOU JOIN, ILL MAKE SURE TO PUT YOU ON MYSTIC'S TEAM.

After thinking it over, bowhunting for deer takes up too much of my time, I wont be able to get out to hunt small game. So I dont think I would help my team at all, Im not gonna join.

Sounds cool though! Good luck all!

Same here remove me from the team. If hide prices are up I'll take over 200 coons between the coons & snares. I don't think it's unfair because nobody taking those #'s of pheasants or rabbits. but with this group I could be wrong LOl

By the way, Im not sure if you guys cleared it up, but you can bowhunt for all the small game. Read the first section under Small game Regulations on page 58 of the Digest.

That light brown shotgun only section is reffering to the coyote & fox nightime season. (as far as I can tell anyway)

If you guys included all the small game species that they list (except turkey) I may be more inclined to join. As for now though, I wont be able to kill most the animals listed while still deer hunting with some degree of seriousness. These seasons all coincide with the rut....so. I just cant bring myself to go out looking for a squirrel when I could be hunting a 160 cl [no swearing please] bruiser.

Hope you understand.
Have a good one---

Mack....I think we should take raccoons out of the contest and add crows....Raccoon hunting is a whole different game then regular small game animals, I think anyway. Whats everyones thoughts on that??

As far as crows go I will pop one when I get a chance while small game hunting. I think it would be a good addition to the contest. What is everyones thoughts on that?

Another thing is the North zone wood [no swearing please] season ends at the start of the rabbit/pheasant seasons!!!! I know some great wood [no swearing please] spots but I can't hunt them after the start of our contest! I guess thats still cool though...I have the option to go south and hunt for them...

Crows are cl [no swearing please] under "Migratory Birds" doesn't that mean steel shot?
Matty you better check about small game while deer hunting with a bow. Doesn't it read while deer hunting must have only broadheads, etc & small game calls for blunt heads.
Take the coons off the list. The bears may get you boyz while out there in the dark. LOL

I HAVE TAKEN RACOON OUT OF THE CONTEST BECAUSE YOU WANTED ME TO. SO HERE IS THE FIXED VERSION.

TEAMS WILL BE MADE WHEN THE AMOUNT OF PARTICIPANTS IS CERTAIN.

alright, i have composed a scoring list for the contest.

squirrel/woodchuck= 1 point
chukars/quail= 2 points
pheasant/rabbit= 3 points
grouse/woodcock= 4 points (POINTS FOR THESE ANIMALS ARE 4 POINTS BECAUSE THEY ARE HARD TO FIND)

RULES: you may hunt private land, but you must only count (for points) only the amount of animals that can be taken on public land. Example: you hunt on private land and shoot 5 pheasants. you can only count 2 pheasants.

any weapon (that is legal to use for the game you are hunting) can be used. Example: you can hunt for squirrel with either muzzleloader or shotgun.

the contest starts when pheasant/quail/rabbit season opens. game shot before then cannot be counted. the contest also ends when pheasant/quail/rabbit season ends.

IF YOU ARE UNSATISFIED WITH THE RULES, POST ON THIS THREAD EXPLAINING YOUR REASON.

THOSE ARE THE RULES FOR THE 2005 SMALL GAME HUNTING CONTEST! IF YOU WOULD LIKE ME TO EXPLAIN ANYTHING, PLEASE POST ON THIS THREAD! DO NOT POST ON THIS THREAD IF YOU ARE NOT IN THIS CONTEST!

THESE RULES ARE FINAL.
