My Morris County township told me 2 months .... and that's how long it took. You need to follow up with your references ..... sometimes they fail/forget to return their letters. It happended to me when I recently applied for some handgun permits, and to my son for his initial FID. I don't understand how people fail to act, or forget about, a letter from the police department. coot

Max SHOULD be 30 days if all the paperwork is done on your end and references come back in a timely manner. Most PD's take more than that but it can be done if they don't drag their feet.
