Depends on what you'll be using the hides for, the type of tanning you want. For furbearers a hide that's soft & flexs w/o slipping hair send it out! I had coats made a few years away I think I paid like $35 a beaver tanned & sheared., $25 coyotes, fox & coons

go check out taxidermy.net, anything you want, they'll point you in the right direction. Otherwise, stick with what Rich said, without tumblers, fleshing machines, and some other expensive stuff, you'll never produce leather products even remotely close to what a commercial tannery can do for you.
