Here's your drinks: Stinger, Laguvulin extra neat without a trace of condensation or perspiration for that matter, and a bud & soco...DOUBLE SHOT.

You know the stinger reminds me of my favorite May drink...a Mint Julep.  In honor of the Kentucky Derby...A full round of Mint Juleps on the house!!!  Now tell me you don't like this kinda bar

In memory of Barbaro...Mint Juleps for everyone with fresh mint served floating in a sea of thoroughbred history!!!

are you trying to get us drunk and have your way with us you dirty devil?

The secret to a perfect Julep is the crushed ice and it must be served in a Silver Julep cup to keep it ice cold

Very nice...yes that is the secret, but it goes just as well in a paper cup if you don't have the resources   Last year, my wife and I made Juleps with fresh mint from our herb garden for The Derby (we are big into horse racing and got married at Saratoga track amongst the flowers and trail biscuits...and yes we have horses - so appreciation is not just in the gambling)...we even tried some chocolate mint that I planted...VERY NICE and DIFFERENT!!!

Very nice, Juleps to celebrate your anniversary.

Never rode but hit up Monmouth park for the races to gamble.  I use to clean up when Julie Krone raced there.

I never said my wife LIKES Juleps   But she tries them none the less.  We got married and was featured in the Daily Race Form during the annual Whitney race up there.  We try to catch the Whitney every year for our anniversary...all my relatives on my mother's side live up in and around Saratoga.  Whitney's in August...nice and hot on our wedding day all decked out in tails

Never been to Monmouth, but gotta get there...I believe this year Monmouth is hosting the Breeder's Cup.

Looks like there'll be snapper soup for tonight's special.

One Screwdriver coming up...but be careful...this is an extra strong one that will hit you like a hammer   Would you like Grey Goose, Stoli, Vox, Skyy...choose the hammer you'd like to be hit with

You know I just tried Vox while out in Vegas this past week.  I wasn't THAT impressed, but that prolly was because it was warm and out of an airplane bottle.   I like Stoli...due to the memories or lack there of associated with...but, for run of the mill type Vodkas...believe it or not...Smirnoff isn't bad AND NY TIMES or some such publication declared it the best in a blind taste test.  But I digress and am turning into a Cliff Klaven.

ATTENTION MODS:

Aside from the initial setup (asking about booze and painting a pretty picture...I was wondering if this thread could be made a sticky and be used by members who just want to post to get someone's attention and converse openly without having to open up a new thread.  Random conversations and hijacks are welcome.  It would save from chat, email, and such...just an idea...if everyone uses it, it may cut down on threads you have to move or delete or whatever...OK will go back behind the bar and tend to the taps

Thank you kindly for the sticky and I can assure you that the floors in this bar are NOT sticky at all

Back to business...Can I get anyone a drink before I leave my other job?

Nah, I think everyone in here was too drunk this afternoon to notice.  The gal down the end of the bar is a fashion consultant and she may be able to hook you up with a variety of woman's clothing (ala Klinger from MASH) and you can do like the Bud Lite commercials and oh by the way every night is ladies night here - I think you will be pleased and very sauced when the locals get all liquored up and start throwing drinks your way

All right, I'm leaving the bar in my barmaid's competent if not sexier hands...gotta leave work soon!  Hilda, give them something special!

Feel free to use and abuse this thread...as one great philosopher once said, "The rules are, there are no rules!" - unless one of the mods comes in and throws your ass out for profanity...oops

*Wvinter nails up a new sign above the bar*

HIJACKS ARE WELCOME!

Hi Hilda, let me have a boilermaker, please.  Anyone available to join me? Pull up a stool.

Howdy boys and girls!!! How is the lovely Hilda treating you both?  I thought I'd check in before last call...oops, there is NO last call here.

Glad to see the bar is getting used a little when I'm not around!

I think I'll light up the bug lamp on the porch and watch the moon and stars.  Their reflection off the lake is gorgeous this time of year.  Maybe fall asleep on the porch swing listening to Etta James in the soft glow of the old cathedral radio's dim light.

Anyone for a Nightcap?

A wee bit of bourbon for me before bed.

I just remembered I gotta call 35Whelan to finalize trip plans for Friday night...Saturday morning I have a date with some real Turkeys with Bears as a consolation prize!!!  Have a good night all!!!
