I'll be at Flatbrook and the Gap. I may try Whittingham.

BHC - too bad you/your family sold the property. You'd probably have a nice piece of hunting property.

SXS, that is where my buddy is. His name is Rick Heisler. Also, I am looking to get a Vizsla from a breeder there. Her name in Jackie Belcher. __________________ It isn't the catch or the kill that makes for a great outdoor experience but enjoying all that God has created for us.

I usually hunt the Flatbrook area on Tues and Thurs. Gun club on Sat and Sun. Then throw in Powderbourne in Pa a 1/2 dozen or so times a year.
Can't wait to start hunting those roosters. __________________ "A bad day of hunting is better than a good day of work"

Black River or Flatbrook - it's a crowd scene but I don't really have any other good options. I went to Black River on the Thanksgiving Day morning - it was pretty wild. I didn't like hunting in such a crowded situation - I missed 4 shots at Pheasant. I'm not that bad a shot - my excuse is the crowds - at least that's my current excuse.
Can anyone suggest any other good areas in the northern part of NY? __________________ Bob

| whittingham is great. its not as crowded as Flatbrook because it has three main areas. It has an area where they do youth hunting day which is open the main season also. there is also an apple orchard and a long stretch of road with feilds on both sides. are you familiar with andover or whittingham bgood? | ||

I gave up pheasant hunting when my dog (Kato the choc lab) died. Once you hunt pheasants on a regular basis with a dog you are spoiled. Maybe someone here with a dog might invite me to tag along? __________________ Gun control is being able to hit your target

I am up for any bird right now. But next year I will be itching to get out there even worse. I put a desposit on a pup yesterday and it should be here the last weekend of October. Can't wait. __________________ It isn't the catch or the kill that makes for a great outdoor experience but enjoying all that God has created for us.

mpemt24,
That's what it is about. Getting out with the dogs and watching them work. My 2 are gettting real antsy. When they see me leave early in the morning and they think I'm going hunting, they want to know why they aren't going. They just don't understand bow hunting is for deer. ![]() __________________ "A bad day of hunting is better than a good day of work"

What kind of dogs do you have TJC? I will be getting a Vizsla. I also hunt Flatbrook Tuesdays and Thursdays. Which area do you hunt? __________________ It isn't the catch or the kill that makes for a great outdoor experience but enjoying all that God has created for us.

I hunt the Flatbrook area that is past the little General store and to the stop sign. We turn left at the stop sign and hunt the fields there.
I have 2 Drahthaars. A 3 yr old and a new 1 yr old that I got from a guy. It happened to be a full sister to my 3 yr old. She was broke and hunted last year as well as put through her first series of tests. The guy is being transferred out of the country for 2+ yrs and couldn't keep her. I'm going to start working with quail next week so that we can get "acquainted" with each other. __________________ "A bad day of hunting is better than a good day of work"

Mystic, you may be able to do it at a preserve. That would be cool to see. I have seen it on tv. __________________ It isn't the catch or the kill that makes for a great outdoor experience but enjoying all that God has created for us.
