I think the cheapest one I have seen is G&R Preserve off 7A on the turnpike.  You get 4 pheasants I believe.  J&G Game Preserve in Hackettstown is 90 during the week and you get 2 pheasants and 3 chukars.  Chukars are smaller and faster.  A little more challenging.  If you want someoner to go with to back you up, I'll go with you.

SXS, that is where my buddy is.  His name is Rick Heisler.  Also, I am looking to get a Vizsla from a breeder there.  Her name in Jackie Belcher.

Rick is the president of our club, I'm the Secretary/Treasurer.  He's a great guy and a deadly bird shot.  I've seen him take 20+ pheasants a day with his Brittiany Spaniels.

When I went with him we took 14 I think.  His dogs are great.  When you see Rick them him about this site and Mike says hi.  Also, are you guys taking any new members.  I am getting a pup next month and would love to join next year, if I can afford it.

Mike,

sorry I missed your reply.  I don't usually get on the computer during the weekends (by choice!).  Too bad Rick didn't know you wanted to join.  We took 2 new members this year.  I asked a couple of friends and relatives if they wanted to join and they declined.  go figure.  we start bird hunting on 10/22/05.  If I were you, I would track him down and start dropping hints about how much you sure would like to get some birds

I emailed him.  Right now the dues are a bit high for me.  He told me to drop him a line in the middle of the season.  I am getting a pup on Oct. 27 and hopefully will be able to get her out towards the end of the season.  You guys put out a lot of birds, so I hope he can help me train her a little.  Mike

Mike,

there is a place not too far from the club where we buy birds.  i think quail go for something like $3.50 - $4.00 each.  you can probably get a dozen or so and let the pup have a blast.  mention it to Rick and he can probably order them for you.

Frank,
Sounds like a good idea.  Quail should be okay for February right?  That is when I think she will be ready to hunt.  Mike

if it's too cold they don't fly very well.  depends on the temp.  worth a shot though.
