It's not sinking in with these jackasses. Do we need another mass killing? Give them all cell phones? Are you f'n kidding me? Do I need to expand more on why this is not going to stop someone from killing you.
Spend money on video cameras so you can subsidize the cost by selling the tape to NBC after the the next massacre. NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey's acting governor has formed a task force on campus security after meeting Friday with officials from 35 New Jersey colleges and universities. The 1 1/2-hour meeting was called in response to this week's shooting rampage at Virginia Tech. Acting Gov. Richard J. Codey said each of the colleges agreed to submit current security plans to the state's Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness. Codey, the state Senate president, is filling in for Gov. Jon S. Corzine, who was injured in an automobile accident last week. Codey said he hopes the state will issue a report by June 1, recommending procedures for student and parent notifications, campus lockdowns, handling an armed suspect and grief counseling, among other items. It will also examine how security cameras are used on campuses, he said. "We in New Jersey are going to do everything humanly possible to protect our students on our campuses," said Codey, who has one child at Drew University and another who will enter Rutgers in the fall. Rutgers President Richard L. McCormick said university presidents welcome the chance to deal with the security issue comprehensively on a state level. "Every student and every parent who sends a student to a New Jersey college or university can be sure that she or he will be well cared for in the best hands possible and, above all, as safe as she or he can possibly be," he said. Codey acknowledged that securing college campuses can be difficult, because they are often vast and open to visitors. "You can't deny people access from just walking on your campus," he said. "There's no way to stop that. We have campuses that are huge, just huge. You don't know who is a student, who isn't a student, who shouldn't be on campus. You just can't stop that. Codey said each school employs different plans, and mentioned that Montclair State University gives each student a cell phone, which enables school officials to text-message all students within minutes. Thirty-two students and faculty, plus the shooter, died in Monday's shooting at Virginia Tech. Three of the students killed were from New Jersey. __________________ Cub Scout 1973

Geez--You can't shoot with a cell phone. I have nephews in both of these schools. What good is a text message when the kid might be too dead to read the damn thing. All this stupid talk makes me mad, sorry guys--need to vent. Exhorbitant college tuitions and nobody is really safe. ![]() __________________ The government’s view of the economy: If it moves, tax it. Campus cops are whiz bangs too, they need to be upgraded. Pushing the blue button, great policy most of these schools have. I think I'm going to push the button on my next visit and start the stopwatch

Just think for a second. Imagine the mass panic when everyone recieves the same text message.
How about if my batteries are dead? What about if I leave my phone in my dorm room? Do I keep it on vibrate during the bio lecture? You can't have a cell phone on your desk during an exam. How will we know what to do? Again...jackasses...listen, please...I'm begging you...by the time you find out what happened, where it happened on campus and who might have done it, before you could type the message...THERE COULD BE A HUNDRED PEOPLE DEAD. You don't know who is a student, who isn't a student, who shouldn't be on campus. You just can't stop that. That sums up the situation. All the better to arm everyone. The police didn't help at V Tec. They stood outside behind trees while the shots rang out. This is not a knock on the police. They have protocol to follow. Cho could have killed more had he not run out of bullets or taken his own life. There will be no one to help the victims on gun-free campuses. __________________ Cub Scout 1973
