just didnt get to it till yesterday. Terrible that you have to worry about this stuff on private property. But these guys go wherever they want to. See a stand - take it - prize for the day.

I would love to catch one in the act
They would never hear from him again

Sucks. You should place an old piece of shit stand near the property edge where it's visible and stake out the spot or place a trail cam hidden out of sight. I hope you catch the motherf****rs! I wish they would make LO-JAC for treestands.

Put out a couple leg hold traps around a crapy stand that will get them.lol

An old dummy stand rubbed liberally in poison ivy is my new tactic for next season and I hope the m-f'er who tries to steal it is allergic !!!

i use the duck tape method of taping razor blades along the side of the stand  this way they are not exposed. then it becomes a simple matter of following the blood trail.

I must say that sounds like a great tactic.

But then this suggestion came out ......hhmmmmmmmIt sure would stop them probably forever from doing it again.

Plus a bonus from the whole thing is you get offseason practice at bloodtrailing 101

This is why I went to the climber... I leave nothing behind. I have had permanant stands sabotaged to the point of breaking when you climb into them. Then we had 2 portables stolen. So, I use a loggy and take it with me. Pain in the ass but I can't afford to supply New Jersey with Tree stands. Sorry for your loss...

with theft so prevelent your better off with the climber. i love mine and it goes home with me on every trip

todays stands are not that heavy to haul in the woods. check out some models, you'll find the one you like. and best of all you never have to worry about getting robbed again!!

Cheaper ladder stands are a good way to go on private property, this way it is a lot of work for them to take the stand apart to steal it and thieves don't like to work to steal things, so they will tend to pass on it if they have to break a sweat, and if they do  decide to take it anyway at least you not out a lot of $$$$

There is no way to stop THIEVES !
If they want something bad enough they will find a way to get it.
I have had 3 stands that were chained to a tree and cost well over $200 a piece stolen in the past, at least you limit your losses, I also had a trailcam stolen this season that was bolted to the tree from inside they literally had to break it to steal it and they did .
Like I said if they REALLY want it they will get it and trespassing to a thief means nothing.
At least with a ladder stand it's a little harder to steal and your not out to much money if they do steal it.
