Catfish came up with a great idea. A NJH trout contest.. It is now in the begging stages so lets hear some ideas.. We will break up into teams.. I catch and release almost all the trout I catch other then those that swallow the hook or are bleeding bad and wont make it, plus I keep just afew for the freezer. But most are put right back in. So how would that work

I am in! I am C&R also, but I will hang a 24" ruler on a retractable from my back so I can snap a pic of the fish next to the ruler. Or just use your fishing rod, then take another pic of the same rod next to a ruler. Quote: why? Lets see could have something to do with it is a bit harder on the fly fishermen with all the bait guys casting all around them. At least on the first few weeks most fly guys can't get near any of the Good stretches or good holes with all the bait lines in the water. And there is of course the fact that it is a little more of a challenge and needs finesse to catch trout on the fly line especially when there is a ton of live bait being slung in front of them.

I would be into this I guess. Just need to take pics of the fish I catch. I like Scrubby's suggestion, except, you may want to allow more than one fish per contestant per week. Or at least allow them to update/upgrade the fish they use. Say Harry Beenbhag catches a 16" rainbow on Monday, enters it, but catches a 22" rainbow on Wednesday. He should be able to upgrade to the larger fish. It wouldnt be very difficult to cheat either if you catch two big fish in one week. Get pics of them and then submit one next week. Know what I mean? Or would that be allowed? So in other words, one fish can be submitted per week, but it doesnt matter when you caught it. ok I think we should do a biggest fish of the week for each team member.. and do a point scale something like 9-11 inches 1 point 12-14 inches 2 points 15- 17 inches 3 points 18- 20 inches 4 points 21-23 inches 5 points 24 and above 10 points Only 1 fish per team member per week will be scored regardless of takle. Put me down this is my field fishing.I won 3 trout tournys,and get some pretty good fish.I like the se tup for the point/lenth system so far. Cant wait.Just usualy do better afetr the first week or two water warms up, i get to hit the big fish trolling.

the latest you can turn in fish for offical scoring will be every Monday 8PM.. Matt each weeks dead line will be monday, so you can keep upgrading through out the week if you can then come Monday night submit your longest fish..To comat the cheating I think will be hard how ever you look at it. It will be on the honor system . I love NJH contest, but if the rules and things get to serious or I have to worry about people cheating to glorify there fishing/hunting abilities then to me it just aint worth it It takes all the fun right out of fishing. I enjoy this site and the guys and gals on it to much and can see this thing getting ugly quick so I think and kind of get a scents this contest may just go down a road with certain members I don't want to so I think I'll take a pass on it and just enjoy another trout season. Till I get my bass blood flowing, With draw me on this one guys.
