Posted:  09 Feb 2007 12:26 PM
I was told this morning about a monster 39 point buck that was found dead in the woods off RT 18 in Tinton Falls. I don't have any picks, but may get one.

Figured I would throw this out to the guys killing the "wall area monsters" as you guys have a pretty good handle on what is running around down there.

I like to see a pic of that  Buck???

Would love to see a photo of him.
That is a unique area, like Allaire. The  piece of Rt. 18 that's in Tinton Falls on the south side of 18 is mostly NAD Earle. Even with some deer hunting that is allowed in there, I'm sure bucks die of old age.
The piece on the north side is all private and nice deer habitat. I saw beauties when I worked 4 to 12's for JCP&L along Rt. 537 from Due Process to the golf course. I'd spot all those pieces along the military rd.(Normandy Rd.)
If one's fortunate to have access to even a small piece there, you have a chance to get into the books.

One of our customers told me on Wednesday that there was a 32 pt found in Eatontown area.  Said it was hit by a car.  I told him we wanted to see pics.

They sure will. Happened just outside of Vineland several years ago. Guy hit a big buck with his truck (I think he was a local cop too). The buck was just a little too big and caught the attention of F & W. Someone wanted it for his office in Trenton. After a big fight, they forced him to give it up, then a Court battle ensued and if I remember right, the Judge ordered the head to be placed in the municipal building on Rt. 40 in Buena. It's a pretty knarly non-typical.

Wardens already know about it. Call was made to see if he could keep the deer under a tag you get when its hit by a car and a cop comes. Warden explained that even in those instances, you are to only keep the meat. Kinda strange since you can keep a shed if you find it, but not the horns from a dead deer.

hopefully the the horns do get mounted and put on display somewhere so we can all see it. Would be great to know the age - etc about the deer

i dont think its right that they take the antlers, And then keep them for themselves to keep and hang in some office.I think whoever finds it should be able to keep it.

No discharge and no hunting means just that, right?
If I was to setup a bait site and film the deer or use a trail cam, is that legal?

I dont see why not your not hunting untill you have a weapon on you.

A local farmer who knows the guy that has the buck said he is holding out on any pics till he figures out how he can keep it. If he can't legally keep it, we might not see any pics.

If the local wardens want to, they can easily track this one down - guess it depends on how busy they are.

If deer season, you can use your transportation tag to keep it..
