It's not uncommon for guys to have different opinions of a place. Everybody's different and has there own opinion of how things should be, not that either is wrong. Sounds like this outfitter cleaned up and put some more effort into his business after BHC was there. It is a shame that BHC had a bad experience in a state like iowa. There not all like that BHC!  I was in missouri at the whitetail trophy hunt in nov. and would recommend it to anyone if your into a tournament type hunt.  Great place!

I think a lot of credit must be given to BHC and his group for exposing Ernie on some of his camp down falls. By Ernie reading all of the bad things that odviously were not noticeable to him and his staff. They ended up correcting all the bad things, there by giving the rest of the follow up hunters a real good hunt.

Remember this, it was the IOWA DNR that fined this outfitter for poaching and for forging IOWA tags a few years ago

Didnt you know this before hand? We've heard you mention it many times but only after your BAD experience with him!

Maybe if all the homework was done before hand you could have avoided the situation instead of using it to bash him?
Obviously the guys not that bad. The reviews from other hunters during the same week as BHC came back as a nice place also!

no I didn't know this, and if I did I would of never of went.....So since we had a bad experience we shouldn't bash him? So we don't like Corzine for what he has done so far and for what he will be doing to us, then we shouldn't bash him...boils down to the samething

i was reading this thread and thinking the exact same thing.

If no one reviewed the place before BHC went then they must have cleaned up their act.  If they had good reviews before BHC and after BHC then the place just wasn't up to his expectations.

happy, only one other person from NJH went there before any of us, he liked the place, but then he stayed at a motel, and ate out 80% of the time, he hung his own stands, had access to any farm he wanted. Granted this outfitter was just starting out, but he also agreed that whatever stands the outfitter put up (Loc-On type)where placed either to high or at unsafe angles. This place is great as far as the deer big bucks all around, the locations where the stands are located they have done there homework, and the lands they have, well they are just down right gorgeous. I was told by the owner well in advance that we will be well taken care of, I'm not going to go into detail as I stated the truth as far as what happened to us 3, this outfitter didn't live up to his part of the agreement

Venisoneater,I am glad you enjoyed your experience.Did Ernie hunt while you were in camp?Did you any problems with the stands he put you in or finding them, and if so did he correct them?Well, those were my biggest complaints about the outfitter and maybe by us posting our experiences on here it helped yours be a better one.

No he did not hunt while I was in camp and none of us had any problems locating stands during pre-dawn or daylight hours. I learned a long time ago to lift the platform of a hang-on stand and re-cinch the strap and then reseat the platform. This cures %90 of unevenness and squeekiness. I hate to admit it but I weigh an easy 250 lbs. so I am highly critical of any stand my fat a$$ climbs into.

Chris, This was my first time out to the midwest, I will be going back this year. This is not as personal as a hunt with an outfitter. They take 230 hunters on 11 properties totaling 30,000 acres. Property owners or guides scout and hang stands. Everyone stays at a resort type hotel near lake of the ozarks. A random computer drawing picks your property and stand number for you. you will never hunt the same one twice. the top 20 (B+C Gross) scoring bucks win a free hunt the next year. Top 10 win money.  Top 4 also win a free mount.  I think the guy that won it won around $32,000 with the side pool added on.  Anyhow,  I shot on the first day, 8pt about 17 inches inside.  Had good mass, but short tines.  Scored around 115.  I saw 43 deer with 17 being bucks out of the stand i was in. saw several 8pts around 12in. wide.  The percentage of kill is low because most guys won't pull the trigger unless they know it will win it. Alot of guys i talked to either missed or saw bucks that would have finished top 5, but didn't get them. It is a good hunt if your into that type of hunt. Let me know if i can help you out any more.

BHC versus Venisoneater thing
Because your letting him do it. Set him up Joe and I beat he becomes your buddy? I don't know what to say other than big deer will sramble your brains and some will do and go and deny to get a big deer.

I'm pretty sure this place is the only place to get an oppertunity for a big deer or a least this is what is being lead to beleive? Hum Imagine that the price should be $20,000.

follow up hunters a real good hunt
If this is what it takes an outfit to do good by all clients then I don't care how good a place is you can have it. I been with some bums that really sucked and I got no time for things like that but maybe you do so go ahead and good luck. Just maybe you'll get what you want but if not you deserve it to get vambousaled.

Correct, what happen was Ernie said ,"HMMM... Lets show them (NJH) that we are a good outfitter" this is all that happened.

I'm glad BHC and crew exposed them and now they are doing the right thing!

I thought they didn't care if people came back, and I would doubt they cared what a NJ Hunting message board posted about them.  Do they even have computers in IOWA?

I think they may have tried a little harder to please you, after what Joe said.

Glad you had a great trip, hope you get the buck of your dreams next time you draw a tag.
