Took a ride yesterday morning down to the boat ramp at the end of Stimpson Island to drink my Wawa coffee (it's like a drug addiction) I saw a nice sized buck with just the antlers sawed off the head. What's wrong with people. If you don't want it let it go. I was so pissed off. I hunt in this general area so if this was killed here it would have traveled in the piece I hunt. What would you guys do? This hasn't been the first time.

Just a question, is it possible that this buck was hit by a car? If it was, then I can sort of understand the person not taking the deer. As for the CO, I don't know if there's anything they can/will do unless you've got some proof that this deer was shot illegally.
I agree that stinks though. David __________________ NJ... Where fun comes to die!

I agree with this, I don't know if there is a law that says you have to keep the meat. Would be nice if hunters would keep it and use it. But never heard of a "trophy law" of any kind __________________ "from my cold dead hands"

| Yea, sometimes it's so easy to jump to conclusions. When you stop and think about how much time you spend in the woods and try to keep food plots going, then you see something like this it makes you wonder. Thanks for your input. | ||

| The whole deer has to be tagged to keep the antlers legally .If the deer was a road kill it is actually illegal in new jersey to keep or cut off the antlers . | ||

| I used to hunt in an old dump in the pines that the state would dump carcasses of dead deer in,ones that were poached and hit by cars, this was about 10 yrs ago.I cant tell you how many big bodied carcasses i used to see that were missing their head and horns. It used to break my heart to see this.Such a waste of life, and meat that could have even been donated to help feed the hungry,I hate people like that | ||

deergetter is right! It is illegal in a lot of states. Was the skull plate cut or the individual antlers? It is a waste of it was shot and left for the worms and the shooter knew it. More than likely the deer was found by someone and they need some rattling horns or a practice piece for a skull mount. Who knows!

| Skull plate cut in a perfect v just where the antlers were. We have had problems in the past with poaching in the area. | ||

Just give Fish and Game a courtesy call. Maybe they know some poaching and spot lighting is going on or maybe they don't and they can check it out. Or maybe it was hit by a car. But if it is some type of poaching they should be made aware. __________________ It isn't the catch or the kill that makes for a great outdoor experience but enjoying all that God has created for us.

I believe it may be against the law to shoot game for the sake of shooting it. Wanton waste comes to mind.
Seems I heard of some guys being charged with that for shooting ducks and leaving them floating with no intention of picking them up. |

I found a dead buck with about6-8 inch spikes the other day, gutted out and thrown out whole. Why the f**k would anyone do this. I figured that the a$$holes let it hang too long. They didn't even cut the little rack off. __________________ "I do not know of a greater good that an individual can render humankind

If it was on the road maybe it fell off a car or cargo carrier. __________________ It isn't the catch or the kill that makes for a great outdoor experience but enjoying all that God has created for us.
