You guy's make me laugh..... I never see [no swearing please] said when some one "ACCIDENTLY" shoot's a button buck... Seem's alot of these accident's happened this year... NO EXCUSE FOR SHOOTING A BUTTON BUCK... Yet Joe shoot's three legal buck's and he catches all kind of shit... Want to know why he got the oppurtunity to shoot those buck's.... Cause where he hunt's in Zone 4 doe day's are limited and the season's shorter so you guy's can't wipe out the herd.... Tell the guy CONGRAT'S ALREADY snd stop busting his ball's.... He does more for guy's on this site than anyone else.... Tell me how many deal's on bow's did he get for people???? How many people has he asked to come up and stay at the house in Pa. ????? Don't see too many other's from this site making offer's or invitation's like that... Joe Congrat's and a Big Hat's off to you... ditto In addition to that there's the stuff he does that people on the site don't necessarily know about. ![]() ![]() __________________ Gun control is being able to hit your target

First off let me thank my friends Buckfever & Brownstones for being there, let me add a thank yous to those that gave me the thumbs up, and yes I will post pictures of my scrubby little 5 pointer, for which I'm proud of.
For those that question me about having a agreement on 6 points or more if you read that you would of taken noticed that it was for the muzzleloader season. Those that know the way I hunt, I hunt as hard as I can, I make sure I'm walking in early, and we hunt 2 miles from where we park. It took me many years to find the area I hunt, from watching the deer seeing where they go, and slowly move my stand location to the deer. I hunt public land and we all know that there aren't many large rack bucks roaming, I could say that I did harvest a great buck last year. For those that question me about taking 3 bucks, well I could care less what you think, I don't shoot the antlerless deer in the area I hunt nor use bait, I said that I have taken my share of them, and if I had a place like Medham/Princton, etc. I would take them out. Even with that said I wouldn't bust balls if anyone took a doe, or button buck out, I would be one of the first to give that hunter a thumbs up, to each there own. The way I see it, some here but not all would like to see me either fail on scoring or take a antlerless deer out. You guys say there aren't any deer in zone 4, I always said the herd isn't what it once was. Some here like hunting there, others wouldn't want too for whatever the reason maybe, I for one love it up there. Bloodtrials you talk a good line of crap and seems you know alot about what goes on behind close doors when it comes to hunting here in NJ and I thank you for informing us with all the info, but have you ever shared with the members of NJH with photos of your kills? |

Anyone who manages to consistently get bucks without bait on public ground deserves a pat on the back. Yeah, I'm envious. I wish I had the patience to do the homework he did to put him in the right spots.

I wish I had the patience to do the homework he did to put him in the right spots. Whether you hunt public or private land, filling every buck tag you have just because you can is pretty darn pointless, especially for veteran deer hunters. It's the old school mentality that you are not a man unless you shoot a buck and as many as you can at that. So is the notion that shooting does will somehow degrade the herd. When will people realize that a healthy herd also requires a healthy buck to doe ratio. There are so many reasons to take antler-less deer that volumes have been written about it. It amazes me that folks are still ignorant on the matter. Would be nice if more guys practiced self restraint and showed some selectivity, especially after repeatedly harvesting bucks. If it's meat one wants then why not shoot a doe? Is it really necessary to stick yet another rack in the box at the corner of the garage? Everyone wants to shoot a big buck, but no one lets the scrappers walk and yes, I've taken my share of nice ones on public ground. It's a moot point though, that's why I am an advocate of drastic buck tag reduction. |

I would hope that people are not giving you sh*t for taking a small buck, but that any sh*t your getting is coming from inconsistent statements(ie..small bucks...less deer) that do not conform with your actions (ie...shooting small bucks).
I for one dont think there is anything wrong with shooting whatever you want. I also dont see a huge problem with actions not conforming perfectly with words. I for one have said many time "Im not gonna shoot any scrappers this season", only to find myself tickled to death standing over a forkhorn I just shot. Hopefully any sh*t Joe gets (however undeserving it is) is just for the fact that people over analyze what he says, and not because he legally and ethically shot a small buck. I think Joe is put under a microscope on here simply because he is very active on the site, and I think that is wrong. Congrats on your deer ![]() __________________ "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for dinner. Liberty is a well armed lamb contesting the vote" - Benjamin Franklin

I havent put Joe down at all for what he shot or will continue to shoot, congrats to him i said. |

| I let many bucks walk this year including one just last week with the muzzleloader. This year the 3 of us have seen more bucks then in years past in the general location where we hunt since we are letting the antlerless deer walk. This is public land take whatever is legal and your happy with, I have taken more then my share of antlerless deer in the past, taking them just insn't for me, I have no idea how many guys take antlerless deer from the area I hunt, but let them take what they want, I will wait for the buck | ||

I for one would like to see bigger bucks in the area I hunt, and for that reason I let the buttons, spikes and "Y" bucks walk. I know that someone else may take them, the state says you can, but that's just me hoping on a little karma, good for them. I choose to wait on a big(er) one, not everyone has to. My point: if he chooses to wait or not, who cares. He's doing it legally and ethically on his own terms.
Off my soap box now...congrats Joe!

I have mixed emotions about shooting young bucks and a bunch of other stuff that goes with NJ deer hunting but I do have to say congradulations for pulling it off in a place that many hunt and say has no deer. __________________ The biggest thing I have learned of late is that many legislators will side with us if we patently and intelegently explain to them where we are coming from and where we are going.

yes I will post pictures of my scrubby little 5 pointer, for which I'm proud of. I posted that about not seeing the picture because of the amount of flak you were getting, not because you shouldn't be proud of it. For me, shooting 3 small bucks isn't something I would do at this stage of my life, but if it makes you happy, go for it. I've never been a fan of statewide, mandated antler restrictions because of the fact that what makes one hunter very happy may not be for another hunter, but I do believe we need to limit the number of bucks allowed to be taken, or make any buck after the first meet some kind of size requirement. __________________ Those who value unity among hunters, do not advance agendas that divide hunters.
