Ready and waiting there mack.

Hunting birds at club in Alpha, Flatbrook, Powderbourne preserve and Hudson Guild Farm.

Dogs are ready to go.  I've been good about keeping the extra weight off them this summer.  I've had them swimming some and will start working a bit in the field come later Aug early Sept.
I'll hit the preserve at Powderbourne some time in Oct for some rooster shooting.

Nice place with reasonable prices and nice fields.  But they changed their one special to 8 hens for $99 instead of 9.    Still not bad compared to most places in NJ though.

oh..still better than game creek's prices..i like game creek but powderbourne seems like a better deal...

It is.  Best price going and once you've been there a few times and learn which fields are which you can ask to get the one you want when you go again.
There are some that have quite a few holdovers which translate into bonus birds.   The Girls love bonus birds.  They are usually moving more which means more tracking and a bit more of a challenge.

Years ago I hunted that quite a bit.  It is a mad house now.  No one speaks english, no respect for others dogs, more careless gun handling than I've ever seen anywhere.
I value my dog's lives too much to even ride by there.

i like it during "non-pheasant stocking" times. you're right, it's a show when pheasants are stocked. the water gap and walpack wma aren't too bad during the peak of the season

Non stocking days would probably be fine.  I usually hit the Flatbrook area both stocking and non stocking or I go to my club on the non stocking days in Alpha.
This year I am going to wait until around 9 or so to hit Flatbrook.  Last year started to get a bit crazy up there too.  I started seeing things I just can't put up with in regards to safety and rudeness.

Pheasants in Flatbrook and rabbits on the private farm I hunt.  I'm pumped!!

I'll be joining TJC in Alpha and i may hit some public land as well.

I'd like to dust off my shotguns and give the rabbits a try this year.  Anybody know of a decent area for them???  I'd take less of a crowd over more rabbits.

Me too.  Like shooting at birds across the road and leaving them.  Shooting rabbits for the hell of it.  Driving as fast as you can in front of people.  Hunting between your parties.  Really put a sour taste in my mouth, but I love bird hunting.
