I went to check on my food plot today and saw a 20" wide 8 point stuffing his face!!! The plot has not been growing to good so I mowed it with my lawn mower. After that it started to grow a little better. I had just about given up on it untill today!! I know where I'm hanging my next lock-on stand. I also saw a black groundhog in the plot...I have a judu point for him...

Just a comment, I would think that maybe the reason it wasn't growing so good was because the deer were hitting it pretty hard.  Did you ever enclose a small area of it so the deer couldn't get to it, which would tell you if it was having issues growing or just being mowed down by the deer?

I should have mentioned it was overgrown with weeds. When I mowed the weeds the plot shot up a few inches, but now the weeds are catching up again. I think I will just leave it and see what happens....

Do not leave it!!  The plot has a life cycle of it's own.  If the plants get too big the properties of that plant changes.  As the plant grows, the cell walls must thicken to be able to support the plant.  When the cell walls thicken, the plant becomes much more chewy and the sweetness disappears (Tender & sweet is what keeps the deer coming back for more).  Once that happens the deer will move on to find a more tastier treat.

mow it 2 times a month.... keep the weeds down, but better yet out of the plot...Dont let the weeds go to pod.. by not taking care of the plot you're just killing it before it's time...

Thanks guys I will go and mow it again. Next year I will get a soil test done so I know what to fertilize it with. I put lime  and 10x10x10 fertilizer down but I did not spray the weeds around the plot. That proved to be a mistake. The weeds are growing faster than the plants and acting as a cover crop. Last year I used a quad and sprayed the weeds with round-up the  and it killed everything which left less seeds to blow onto the plot in the wind. This year I didnt have access to the sprayer.
