We have close to 12 acres now on our farm, we signed up for another 30 more.  We have mostly fitler strips along the grain fields now but we are taking some of the smaller fields out of grain and will put them into crp. Attracting deer arent a problem but i want to get some turkeys on there more permanently. I know chufla(sp) is a good one but i want another good winter cover/food source that will pay off over time.

They pay us by the acre to take it out farming for ten years, we choose the plants we want in it.I was wondering if there is something beside the standard clover and millow mix that is a good plant for turkeys.  I apologize if i didnt make it a simpler question.  The name of the program is called CRP Conservation Reserve Program.

You can still plant in a CRP field, You just can't harvest anything from it....Game Animals you can..

Contact the NJ F&W and speak with a wildlife biologist or contact the NWTF, or you can contact a wildlife biologist at Rutgers.  Good luck.
