What happened to heavy shot. Looks like Cabelas and BassPro are both sold out of the popular shot sizes.

What other brands of good non-tox are heavy like heavy shot. I know Bismuth, what else?

I have a feeling it's "gonesville". I was just looking in the Remington catalog and couldn't find it, just the magnum turkey load.

I've never had good luck patterning it in my gun.  The only exception is Federal's version of Hevi-Shot for turkey loads call XTended.

I heard Rem will nolonger be marketing or manufacturing it as they had a fallout with Environmetal...
Now the rage is Hevi 13 from Hevi shot, or Winchester Extended Range.
I do like the Rem Hevishot and will continue to use it until I run out and then I may try Hevi 13.
The Win Extended is awesome,it patterns great and you don't need a special choke rated for Hevi shot.
I have killed birds 48,49,and 50 yards w/ Win Extended.

i just use the winchester copper platted shot,,it shoots straight and gives me the extra power for those long shots

Murray bismuth sucks 2 yrs ago a buddy & I shot 100 shell opening day & barely took a duck. It's way to slow.
Remington will be selling it under a start up company name from what I hear. look at Kent fast steel i have had great results with it.

The HeviShot company makes their own shot shells. Do a google on HeviShot.

Federal makes tugnsten/iron waterfowl loads.

HeviShot is basically tugnsten/iron with a different pellet shape and perhaps a different buffer.

Remington has come out with what they are calling the second generation of hevishot called Wingmaster HD.  All the reviews I have read about this load have been outstanding.  I plan to try it on some Canada geese this fall.  Go to Remington's website for more info.

Wow, it sounds like some powerful shells, hope it's more reasonable than Hevi shot.

Wingmaster HD's smooth, perfectly round shot pellets are more aerodynamic than other lead alternatives. They are uniform in pellet-to-pellet weight and are true to listed shot size.

Other Non-Toxic Shot Pellet

For what its worth...

Last spring, I went to Cabelas because they were holding a waterfowl clinic which was being instructed by Sean Mann. (do a Google search to see who he is).  In any case, for waterfowl, he advises the use of a Patternmaster choke and the use of Fasteel shot in #1 or #2.  The reason behind using the Patternmaster choke is it will give you a super tight pattern and you will either kill them or completely miss them.  And the shot size, the smaller pellets will fly much faster than larger sizes, and with steel speed is the most important factor (other than shot placement of course).

I hope this helps.

I had no luck with Hevi shot. Now I use Remington 4x6. It shoots the best groups ever and killed me a bird this year.
