Thank you for your comments and for being a loyal viewer of News 12 New Jersey.  I can assure you, we fully understand what hunting is all about.  Our story was absolutely balanced and did not take sides.  We also chose not to include some elements that were totally inaccurate.  If you have a specific point from our story you'd like to question, please let me know.

Again, thank you for your feedback.
Regards,

Does anyone watch news12?

I remember they hosted the NJ Gov debates, I think maybe 4 house-holds tuned in.

Wonder what he meant by that?  Wonder if he's a tree-hugging liberal?

Listen to the opening line of the story..... Illegal hunting.... or animal cruelty  you decide...???? yea sounds really fair and balanced. They give you two choices and both are against the law.

His letter to hkdonfishn is a classic example of pissing in our ear and telling us it is raining.

What a jerk off!

What would be fun is if starting this Saturday all members with screen names beginning with A thru M write an e-mail complaining about the poor professionalisim they exhibited by presenting a one sided factless story. Then Sunday those with screen names N thru Z. Then start all over again on Monday and continue throughout the week.

THATS FUNNY!!!! As long as its pro-Bush

The rest are so far to the liberal left that fair and balanced ends up looking biased to the right.

That's a good point. Coming from a family of life-long Democrats, I see it alot. My Mom (registered Democrat) watches Fox News alot and when the rest of the family is around, and Fox news is on, sometimes they get mad and say the same thing...that Fox is pro Bush. When asked why, usually they say other networks didn't report the story the same way. So they are willing to believe that one direction of spin is true, and the other direction is, well, just spin. Amazing.

The only evidence that I see that Fox News shows a bias to Republicans is in the fact that they usually give Republicans a fair shake, not neccessarily favoratism, unless you call givng them a fair shake favortism, which, in fact, all of the liberla media do consider being biased towards Republicans. So therefore, to Liberals, most Democrats, and 99 percent of the media, giving Republicans a fair shake when reporting the news is considered showing bias towards them because the rest of the crowd likes to pound on them and you don't...so you MUST be biased in favor of Republicans. The rest of the media is positioned so far left that being even close to the middle seems to show a bias to the right. That IS how it works.

I did get a response, weather it a standerard letter send to anybody who e-mailed and complained I don't know, but here it is....

Mr. Gurriell:
We are going to do a follow up to this story.  The key is to get the folks at Fish and Wildlife to talk and we're efforting that.  But I want to address your comments starting with correcting your quote..."Illegal hunt or animal cruelty?"  That's not what we said.  Here's the actual script below:

Legal hunting or animal cruelty?  You be the judge.
Video posted on the web by hunters in Sussex County has some animal activists calling for criminal charges.
We want to warn you-- some of you-- may consider the video disturbing.
News 12 New Jersey's Karla Roth with our top story as we approach 5-thirty.

To answer your question, I'm from Texas and have been hunting for 36 years.  I go back home every year for three hunts...dove and quail hunts in West Texas with friends and a south Texas deer with my 85 year-old father.  So I personally am not "anti-hunting," but I did not let my personal opinion influence our story.

I maintain our report was balanced, presenting both sides and allowing viewers to make up their own minds.  Thank you again for your feedback and for being a loyal viewer of News 12 New Jersey.
Regards,
