I got home from school today and there were two malards in my pool. One hen and one Drake, they were also both banded, does anyone know when they begin to lay their eggs?

Nothing really.  You are supposed to let the state know that you shot a banded bird though.

Mack,
In the world of waterfowling shooting a banded duck is like shooting a trophy 10 pointer.  Especially if they are double banded like the ones above.  The silver bands have numbers on them so you can track when and where the bird was banded and eventually harvested. The green bands are reward bands, the ones on these ducks are $100 bands so there is $200 worth of ducks in that pic!!

When you shoot banded waterfowl and call in the # the feds send you a certficate with how old the bird was, where it was banded( I have geese that were banded up in Canada), and who banded the bird. It's a great waterfowl trophy.
