Thanks BobR!
I didn't know offhand, but the web helped me out.  But, it took me some time to find it.

One of the most handsome of all ducks (IMO.) Too bad we have to travel to Alaska to see it in real life.

Harlequin ducks winter along Jersey Shore, mostly along jetties where there is rough surf.  Those are awesome mounts.

Thanks. I've never seen one. Now I have a new goal for the upcoming season - a Harleguin duck.

Very nice venisoneatr. See any grizzlies when you were there? BTW - Up until this thread I didn't realize that the Harlequin was in the Atlantic Flyway. I've sea duck hunted probably 10 times during the last 2 years and had never seen one (unless I misidentified one.) Now I'll keep my eyes open!

As for a Kodiak hunt - someday! I'll be sure to contact you.

I was there in '04 goat/deer/duck hunting. No bear tag this go 'round. Anyway I killed my goat very late at the top of a very tall mtn. We skinned and quartered the goat and decided to come back in the morning. To make a long story short the last image I saw while climbing back up the mtn. was a sow brown bear galloping up the mtn. with my pearly white goat cape hanging out of her mouth And a happy little cub following her over the top of that very same "tall" mtn .

I would give my left nut. I'd put it next to my canvasback.

The cape is the first thing I thought the guides packed out. Why did the guide leave the cape?

According to Alaska law ALL edible meat must be packed out before any horns or cape. So that means when you finally kill that 1800 lb moose be sure to pack that meat between the ribs 5 miles back to camp before you hump out those 70" horns

What a story. You must have gnashed your teeth to the roots watching that event unfold. I'm not sure if I would have watched slack-jawed in disbelief, burst a neck vein in anger, or threw caution to the wind and chased that bear until I caught up with it.

Sounds like you had a great hunt though.

It was surreal.... A few days prior my guide and I were charged to within 15 yds of a brown bear sow and her cub. Now that was the most intense experience of my entire life. It's the kind of stuff that leaves an impression FOREVER
