Just found out my friend and I have probably lost our permission to a farm we hunt in Marlboro.

The farm was SOLD! We are so pissed...we understand its hard to p [no swearing please] up a couple million dollars..but how many god damn homes do we need in this state!

Shit.

Looks like I'll be begging to tag along with someone now.

Too Bad! That's a great area.
Posted:  28 Apr 2006 8:52 AM
At the rate things are going in this state...I expect that's going to happen to all of us eventually that have permission to hunt private land that we don't personally own, or lease.

Welcome to NJ..The most densly populated and corrupt state in the country..

Marlboro has some awesome deer...sucks to lose a piece like that.
Posted:  28 Apr 2006 9:01 AM
yep, really sucks.  i've lost a few great hunting spots in my 36 years of hunting.

keeps getting harder all the time.  WTF!  we recycle paper, bottles, everything else.  how about land?  they should start at the hudson river and start recycling to the west.  from there to the essex/morris county border i bet they'd find a ton of property to "recycle".

If I win the lottery (yeah right)  I'm going to buy up all the s#!t that's been developed, knock all the buildings down, plant trees and turn NJ into a hunter's paradise.  Don't worry I will let all NJH members have access.

I lost my spot this year also. Not to houses but to Horses..

NJ and the rest of the country are really just starting to go to crap. BUILD BUILD BUILD..!! and then jack up the prices to everything so no one can afford to buy anything or drive anywhere.

We are going to be a 3rd world country if this keeps up cause the middle to low cl [no swearing please] citizens are not going to be able to afford to live and only the rich will be making it. That is how 3rd world countries are the RIch royaltie is living just fine but the poor are living in shacks and in colony's with sick and dirty all around them..

Cool, think we can all pack into 100 acres?
Just saying 100 acres, cuz that's about how much you'll be able to do that with in NJ with your lottery winnings.

I'd sooner buy about 10,000 acres in Iowa and/or Kansas and invite all the NJHers out!

I guess thats one nice thing about hunting public land...it won't (or shouldn't) ever get sold or developed (who knows, I know there has been talk about selling WMA lands).

Good thing they p [no swearing please] Ememinent Domain Laws huh.  This state has nothing to offer anyone who is American and enjoys freedoms.  I'm out of here and will not return, for any reason.  This state taxes, laws and lies you to death.

Lets just say they start taking 1/10 of the WMA's the buildable parts that 30,000 acres at the state average of $20,000 per acre, that is only 600 million, not counting the taxes and economic value.  I see it happening.  In time hunting will be a thing of for the history books here in NJ.

Marlboro, great area.  I lost a prime piece of property in Middlesex County last year, I hunted that piece for about 15 years.
Posted:  28 Apr 2006 10:39 AM
If you don't lose it to other clubs then development robs us.Sorry to hear this but maybe you'll find another piece its not completely impossible. Good luck its harder by the day to stay up on things.

Sorry to hear about that.  Just think, what's called "The Garden State" will soon be called "Gardens, Where?  There's no land for gardens!".

Im on 2 places now. They are both up for sale.

So all the scouting and effort i put in from now till the season starts may be totally useless if they go.

Trying to gain access to a gold mine property with about 750 acres. Me and 5 others but the owner is $ hungry and we can agree on a reasonabe price.

At the state rate of $20 per acre, $15,000 that sound about reasonable.

Mike, the offer still stands. If you like I can show some places up in the area I hunt. Tough hunting, not many deer

Lost my 100 acre heaven that we had for 25 years 5 years ago and it was like a death in the family, were still mourning. Lots of great memories. You can find spots for one or two guys but its tough for 4 when you don't want to look over your shoulder and see the orange wave coming thru.

I think that if you hunt private land long enough in this state you will eventually loose it.  The silver lining is that when you find a new piece it is fun learning it and a change of scenery can be nice.  Good luck
Posted:  29 Apr 2006 6:14 AM
One other thing.  Don't discount public land.  I used to hunt private only but know I mostly hunt public and it is great.  You just have to do your homework a little more.

Lost a great place in zone 10 over 125 acers lost to developement, (houses), 7 years ago, now it's all built up, stores and restruants too???

Well I got some good news. Even though the farm is sold, there is some legal battle going on in the courts over it, and the farmer told us we can still use it until it offically changes hands, which could be a few years he said.

Phewww!

maybe you can sneak in there if it is going to be homes before they start building for one last year

Sorry to hear about the news.  At the rate NJ is going, they should change the state motto from The Garden State to, The Garden-less State.
