Yes, each state has there own rules. Plus, if by chance he gets pulled over, there is a good chance of less of a hassel (aka bullshit) they give all of us true gun owners

First of all, why would anyone drive through DC?

He will have no problems if he keeps them cased, unloaded and in the trunk out of reach.

Have him go to this site for specific details:  http://www.nraila.org/GunLaws/FederalGunLaws.aspx?ID=59

if he stays on I95 north until he hits the beltway, which is I495, he will not technically enter into the District of Columbia and he will be fine.  DO NOT bring a weapon into DC, irrespective of whether it' cased or not.

Best bet would be to ship them to an FFL in NJ.  This way they are already here waiting for him, he dosen't have to travel with them, and the dealer can give him the form to send into the state if he wants.

If its just shotguns, rifles, and muzzleloaders... just  have them cased in the trunk.  Done and done.

as far I know as long as you legally own them in the state your tip starts in and can legally own them in the state your trip ends in, travel is OK as long as they are locked in a trunk.

I always keep one loaded and under the seat while I'm travelling, just in case.  How stupid would you feel if trouble erupted and your pistol was locked in the trunk.  Might as well have left if back home in the safe.

Just kidding...I knew there'd be some here ready to post big time at that.  In reality I'm too paranoid to try that although it wasn't that long ago it was perfectly ok to keep one under the seat or in your glovebox.  Guns in the back of pickups where as common as pickups in West Texas.

Hi, I'm new to the forum I'm the brother who's moving to Jersey. Someone on here was right about not going through DC I95 turns into I495 and then breaks off into I95 again. There are really too many States to research so the plan is to pack them in the original boxes and put them in the back of the suv. Thanks for the advice

thats your best bet just cover them and take it easy on the gas petal

I came from Miami a long time ago and I was towing my 105 Howitzer. Nobody even noticed it. I had a tarp over it, even had lunch with a Trooper on highway 301 in South Carolina, ask me what I was towing and I told him it was my Duck Boat.

All kidding aside as long as the weapons are cased and in your trunk you are OK. Bloodtrails web site will explain everything, is call the Interstate Transportation of Firearms. You are protected by the Constitution of Cuba, sorry USA.

If you need more info go to  evannappen.com or call him at 732-389-8888.
